UK. Solent Marine introduces SIMBRO advanced pontoon system
Neoprene Rubber Solent Marine, the UK's largest in-house manufacturer of world class pontoons has introduced SIMBRO, an advanced new solution in modular walkway pontoon design for marina construction. The first through bolted, completely modular pontoon system on the market.SIMBRO is manufactured with strategically placed holes which allow the mooring fingers and pontoons to be located at 125mm intervals, in any orientation and layout. The new pile brackets are positioned at 50mm intervals with the facility for mooring cleats every 180mm. An additional feature of SIMBRO is a unique aluminium bearer design supporting the deck; this is completely protected by neoprene rubber to isolate galvanic corrosion. There is also larger top entry service ducts provided on both sides of the walkways to allow easy provision of services to the berthing areas.SIMBRO's steel structured mooring fingers are torsionally very stiff to ensure excellent stability. The rounded ends, as well as the triangular section of splay of the fingers, are manufactured from rotational moulded, recyclable plastic. This is UV stabilised to prevent discolouration and provides extra protection to mooring craft. For additional safety, SIMBRO also has rubber buttons inserted into the triangular splay for anti-slip properties, these areas being the most vulnerable to crews alighting from vessels on mooring. The specially designed and developed glass fibre reinforced concrete floats can provide an exceptional buoyancy level of 2.5kn/m2, higher than recommended standards.SIMBRO's design is completely modular to ease the problem of pontoon location, and as much of the system can be held in stock it ensures a fast delivery direct from the factory for every application. Construction of a SIMBRO pontoon system is therefore highly cost-effective and less time consuming to build. The modular sections are designed specifically to be transported in an open top container or open top curtain sided trailer, making SIMBRO ideal for export to any European country.Solent Marine's exclusive SolDeck composite decking, which provides exceptional durability and maintains its fresh new look throughout its life, is an option on the SIMBRO pontoon or traditional hardwood can also be used.Torbay Harbour Authority has been the first Solent Marine client to benefit from this outstanding new system, SIMBRO mooring fingers were supplied for the existing Torbay Marina. The launch of SIMBRO confirms Solent Marine's standing as one of the World's leading innovators in Marina pontoon development and construction. Making pontoon systems faster and more cost effect for its customers.
